About Serpentina
Serpentina comes from Andrographis paniculata. Researchers have studied Serpentina and its natural compounds in several areas of human health, but research findings should not be treated as proof that this AFS product prevents or treats disease.

What science has studied
Cough, Sore Throat and Cold Symptoms
Serpentina has been tested in human clinical trials for common respiratory symptoms. Reviews of controlled studies found improvement in symptoms such as cough and sore throat.
Antioxidant and Inflammation Research
Scientists study andrographolide, one of the important natural compounds in Serpentina. Research has found antioxidant and inflammation-related activity. A Philippine DOST-PCHRD project also developed and studied a standardized Serpentina formulation for these properties.
Cancer Cell Research
Scientists have tested Serpentina compounds against several types of cancer cells in laboratories. Some studies found that andrographolide can slow cancer-cell growth or cause cancer cells to die. This is early laboratory research and does not mean Serpentina is a cancer treatment or cure.
Safety Research
Serpentina has also been studied for safety in people. A systematic review found serious side effects were very rare in the included trials, while mild effects, especially stomach and skin problems, were more common.

What the evidence means
Serpentina is more scientifically studied than a simple plant description may suggest. Human research exists, especially for respiratory symptoms, and a small human study also examined blood-sugar control. Scientists are also studying its antioxidant, inflammation-related, and anticancer activity.
